Seven Sisters Recap

| No Comments | No TrackBacks
Well, TGT 2010 has come and gone. We had a great time, and wish all those that couldn't make it would have been there. We hope that everyone cane make it next year.

The trip started out on Friday evening. We drove to Wyatt's house in LA and got there at around Midnight. We had a few brews and stayed up until around 2a.m. The next morning we woke up and had breakfast w/ the Wolfe's and then headed for FFHM in Vincente Guererro, Baja. We arrived at FFHM in the early evening, had dinner at the Baja Fiesta restaurant, then tried to get some sleep.

The next morning we headed south to get to our final destination, The Seven Sisters.  Along the way we stopped at a place we had previously stopped 2 years ago during the Baja 3000.  It was a very cool place w/ huge white boulders and gigantic cactus. Bob had made a memorial concrete cross for our fallen friend Randy so we got out the generator, roto hammer and concrete and erected a little memorial to our good buddy.

Tres Alejandros was our next destination. We arrived in the late afternoon and preceeded to set up camp. The waves were not very good because of all the wind. We would find out later that we were down there at the windiest time of the year. That night (Sunday) we had our HM ceremony. The new HM for 2010 is none other than Danny Newmann. Several beers an a few shots of tequila later it was time for bed, after a fun HM ceremony.

The next day we awoke to more wind. The sun was shining though and it was time for our first competition. The long drive competition.   Congratulations to Bob Ellenwood for winning the coveted trophy for the longest drive.

The next day we packed up camp and decided to head north to check out some of the magical right point breaks of the Seven Sisters. Same old story though, to much wind. After checking out several of the point we ended up at Punta Maria in the early afternoon. We decided to camp there that night. Rob and Danny got out in the water for a little surf that evening and Bob and myself finished seting up camp.

We woke up the next morning and decided to head back to the south. We checked all the points again and decided it was probably best to head back to Tres Alejandros where we would have some better wind protection. We did get some great footage of the Rover and the K5 blasting through some serious mud puddles.

Back at Tres Alejandros the boys decided to do a little fishing. I was tired so I took a nap(I was probably tired because I had to cook for those lazy dorks the whole trip). They came backw/ 3 fish. Rob caught 2, Bob caught 1, And Danny got skunked. Since Rob caught the most fish he won the fishing competition trophy.

The next morning we woke up to the nicest day of the trip. The sun was shining and there wasn't much wind.I got out for a surf and had a great time. Danny soon followed, and then Bob suited up and came out for a few waves. After I came in Rob grabbed my board and went out. We could't really have the surf contest but since Danny caught the most waves and had the longest ride he received the surfing trophy. That night we watched the latest Terminator movei w/ acouple of guys from Sonora Ca. (We watched movies every night thanks to the generator, TV, and DVD player. We like to camp in style).

We woke up Friday morning and it was time to head home. We packed up camp and headed to the main hiway. Once on the hiway The Rover was experiencing some hi speed death wobbles. We checked under the car and foud out that the bushings for the stearing stabeliation rod were shot. We limped into the little town of Punta Prieta and searched for a machanic. We found a guy near the main hiway and he proceeded to do the typical Mexico fix. Jam a bunch of rubber tubing into the space where the bushings once were. It worked like a charm and the guy only charged us $27. Bob gave him $40 and said keep the change. We were on the road again.

We spent the night at FFHM again that night and the next morning we headed across the border. We got to Wyatt's house at around 6 that night and had pizza and beers and watched a movie. The next morning we had breakfast w/ the Wolfe's and headed for home.

Overall I would say that we had a great time. We didn't get to surf as much as I think we would have liked, but we had all our other toys w/ us to keep us occupied. i would like to thank Bob, Danny, And Rob for helping me out and for making this a very fun and memerable trip.

See you all next year. Where are we goning Danny?

2010 TGT Theme Begins to Take Shape

Ok boys,

We have a core crew of six guys that are going for sure. Rob, Bob, Danny N., Joe, Wyatt, & Myself. We still have not heard from Miller, Brozda, Sullivan, Jof & many others who probably can't get permission from their wives anyway. We need to nail down exactly who is coming in order to figure out vehicles, partners, configuring gear, etc.

Last night Rob, Bob, Danny N., & myself got together to figure a few things out, we delegated along the way. While it is early, these tasks have been assigned.

  • Wyatt: You my friend have the biggest challenge. We would like to turn the white F-150 into the TGT 2010 Chuck Wagon. You need to find a freezer and a bbq grill/cooking area and incorporate them into you truck. You also are in charge of the wood.

  • Danny N.: Generator duty, so we can have power for lights, Bob's toys, entertainment, etc.
  • Bob: He is going to get a projector and dvd player so we can have evening entertainment.
  • Jeff (aka, Honored Mate): I am working on the usual HM items and perhaps a few surprises
  • Joe: We haven't come up w/ anything for you yet but make sure to bring your coffee maker.

We each also need to bring tents, sleeping bags, fishing equipement, 4 golf clubs (driver, 5 iron, wedge, & putter), Kites (Rob, Wyatt, & Joe), Surfing stuff, Clothes, etc.

If there is any thing else you guys can think of that you want to bring let me know. Lets start getting organized and stoked about this years trip. Thanks boys.

Your HM,
Jeff Olson

What is up all my brothers. I am announcing the next TGT trip for 2010. This is going to be a hard core surf, camp, 4x4 drivin' trip to the seven sisters region of Baja Ca. The dates are going to be March 5th through the 14th.

The plan is to leave La Selva Beach at about 9 pm on Friday the 5th. Get down to Wyatt's house where we will pick up Wyatt & Joff (sorry Joff but you need to fly into LA and have Wyatt pick you up), then we will cross the border and head to FFHM (where we made our first drop on the Baja 3000), make a cash donation... our tribute to Randy. We will stay the night and then head to tres alejandros for our first night of camping. From there we will have 4 to 5 days to check out all the magical right point breaks of the Seven Sisters.

We have 2 vehicles on board already. Rob's K-5 Blazer and Bob's Range Rover (if it is actually running). We need 1 to 2 more. From there we will drive home after an awesome trip. Lets get it on.

Currently, this trip is only open to TGT alumni. Anyone can solicit entry, but access will be scrutinized heavily....

Your honored mate, Jeff Olson

P.S. There will be some competition once we get down there. But that is a secret for now.
